Steve Bamford

Steve Bamford lives in Poole, Dorset. He has recently returned to his favourite medium of screen printing which he first discovered on his foundation course before graduating in Graphic Design.
Steve then had a long career working as a designer. The majority of the time running his own Graphic Design business, leaving little time to pursue his love of screen printing.
To refresh his interest in the medium, Steve completed a screen printing course at the Arts University Bournemouth. After the course he joined Poole Printmakers where he has developed his screen printing skills and is now also leading courses in screen printing as a tutor. He regularly exhibits with Poole Printmakers and at various Open Exhibitions.
Steve had one of his screen prints shortlisted for the 2024 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
Steve’s screen prints are intended to bring a smile to the faces of viewers. Often invoking nostalgic thoughts through themes such as song lyrics, summer holidays and seaside architecture.
Although Steve will usually print between 10 and 20 prints from each image, each of the prints can be considered an original as the nature of the printing is very much a hand made process. Each print can have up to 8 or 9 different colours and therefore multiple variations. Sometimes Steve will aim to produce a run of prints that are as near the same as possible. Depending on the image he will sometimes intentionally introduce variations in the final print, such as positioning of images or colour variations.
