Marion Taylor Fine Art Prints
Somerset-born Marion studied at the Somerset College of Art, leaving with a qualification in Textile Design and Surface Pattern.
Marion now concentrates on Collage and Ceramics with occasional painting. She is influenced both by her textile training in colour and design and by the colours, patterns and rhythms found in nature, Marion is particularly drawn to flowers and other botanical subjects. Marion’s collages are created using hand coloured and hand patterned papers; starting with an initial idea the collages are built up in layers with careful placing of each element in the design. Inks used in the original collage are largely lightfast and waterproof. The design grows almost intuitively, all elements are hand cut without any pre drawing, it is literally drawing with scissors or occasionally a craft knife.
Most of Marion’s inspiration is drawn from her beloved Dorset and the gardens, hills and valleys which surround her West Dorset home. Colmer’s Hill, on the outskirts of Bridport has been her muse for over 30 years, providing a constant source of inspiration, contours and colours change throughout the seasons.
Marion is a regular participant in Dorset Art Weeks, Artists of the Jurassic Coast, 6 Bridport Artists and other exhibitions.
