Valerie Scally

A self-taught artist, Valerie Scally believes that being an artist is something that one is born to do and not necessarily learned at school. Valerie says, ‘Art is constantly evolving through trial and error and self-learning’.
Valerie’s art is inspired through emotion, it is intuitive rather than premeditated. When she has an emotional response to an image, be it in life, a photograph or a spoken work, Valerie has the need to recreate an image.
Valerie gravitates towards movement with gestural brushstrokes with texture and colour. She wants to entice the viewer to want to touch, feel and see more through the image.
