Alex Ebdon

Alex specialises in contemporary, semi-abstract paintings inspired by the landscapes of Britain. He looks to capture the beauty of these landscapes – from coasts to estuaries, fields to fells – and what he calls the ‘moments of magic’ that can appear within them, often from the most innocuous of beginnings. The paintings develop organically as he lays down layers of paint through a variety of techniques. They aren’t of particular places, rather they seek to transport the viewer to a place, moment or memory that they themselves hold special.
Talking about his work, Alex says ‘these paintings call upon my memories and experiences of places, particularly from my youth, and the emotions that come with them. Vibrant and free, they are love letters to the places that we live within and where we find our room to grow.’
